Shockwave Therapy

Radial Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (r-ESWT) is an evidence based treatment that involves passing low energy pressure waves into damaged tissues to increase blood flow and stimulate repair whilst reducing pain and allowing your body to restart it's own natural healing process.

In particular, the technology offers significant improvements in treating persistent tendon issues like achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow and rotator cuff related shoulder pain.

What Are Radial Shockwaves?

Shockwave therapy has been used since the 1980's for the non-surgical treatment of kidney stones, fast forward 40 years and it is now used to treat many areas of the body.

Radial shockwaves are low energy pressure waves that are delivered into damaged tissues such as tendons and muscle, this increases blood flow, has an analgesic effect and stimulates the body's natural repair and regeneration processes.

Shockwave therapy is clinically proven, recognised by the top orthopaedic hospitals and used by high-profile professional sports bodies.

Who Uses Shockwave Therapy?

I am able to sleep on my left side, I can walk further, and I can dance more without the intense pain. I can highly recommend the shock wave therapy; it has definitely helped my symptoms.

A huge thank you to Harriet and Kirsteen for all the work they did on my ankle and the guidance they gave me. They have enabled me to hike in the Southern Alps (and other amazing places) I didn’t think would be possible! So grateful and will book a sports massage when I get back. Highly recommend the clinic.
