Some of you may know Jordan, our Podiatrist, but you may not know that he is also a Karate champion!
Jordan Green was born with a right congenital limb deformity, which resulted in him having to wear an above knee prosthetic right leg for the past 40 years.
Around 18 months ago, he started training in the martial art form karate, along with his wife and his now seven-year-old daughter. He says one of the main reasons was to help their daughter develop confidence and some self-defence skills. What began as something he started for his family has since developed into a real passion and a journey that he never expected.
Jordan currently holds a grey belt in Wado Ryu karate, and earlier this year he competed in the WMAC (World Martial Arts Committee) English and British Championships, where he became champion in both events in the Inclusive Forms category.
In September 2026, he recently returned from Austria after representing England at the WMAC World Championships. He was fortunate enough to become World Champion in the Inclusive Forms category. An experience he described as 'surreal'.
He also achieved a bronze medal in the able-bodied open 'Belt Freestyle Music' category and a Silver medal in the able-bodied 'traditional Kata' category. In addition to this, his wife Lorraine won a Bronze medal in her age category, and his daughter Esmai won a both a bronze and silver medal, competing not only for the first time but also as the youngest in her age category.
This is such an amazing achievement for the whole family and as colleagues we are all so proud of them all, and are looking forward to seeing where their karate journey takes them next.
